Torque / About — Nm to Ft-Lbs
What this site is
A single-purpose torque conversion reference: newton-meters to foot-pounds and back,
computed from the NIST constant 0.7375621493, with inch-pound output because
1 ft-lb = 12 in-lbs and the two get confused constantly on small fasteners.
How values are produced
Every figure is generated by a build-time program from the one constant — pages are not hand-typed. Displays truncate (cut) at the chosen decimal rather than rounding, so a value shown as 73.75 is exactly what 100 × 0.7375621493 truncates to, never 73.76.
Sources and scope
The conversion constant follows NIST guidance on the foot-pound to newton-meter relation. Fastener context (bolt sizes, property classes, common vehicle specs) is summarized from public ISO 898 bolt-torque tables and manufacturer wheel specifications, and is descriptive — for any critical assembly, the vehicle or fastener manufacturer's service data wins over any website, including this one.
